Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 15, 2025

At PulseCast, we understand that managing your financial information requires serious trust. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our budget prioritization platform. We're based in South Korea and follow the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), but we've written this in plain language because legal jargon helps nobody.

What Information We Collect

Look, we only collect what we actually need to make the platform work for you. Nothing more. Here's what that includes when you sign up and use our budget tools.

Account Information

  • Your name and email address for account creation and communication
  • Password (encrypted, so even we can't see it)
  • Phone number if you choose to add two-factor authentication
  • Business or personal information relevant to your budgeting needs

Financial Data You Input

  • Budget categories and allocation preferences you create
  • Income sources and expense patterns you track
  • Financial goals and priority rankings you set
  • Notes and custom fields you add to your budget plans

Technical Information

  • IP address and browser type (standard stuff for security)
  • Device information and operating system details
  • Usage patterns like which features you use most often
  • Session data and login timestamps for security monitoring

We don't connect to your bank accounts directly. You input whatever financial information you want to track manually, which gives you complete control over what data exists in our system.

How We Use Your Information

Every piece of data we collect has a specific purpose. We're not in the business of hoarding information or finding creative ways to monetize your privacy.

  • Providing the budget prioritization tools and calculations you request
  • Sending you updates about your account or service changes (no spam)
  • Improving our platform based on how people actually use it
  • Protecting your account from unauthorized access or suspicious activity
  • Complying with legal requirements under South Korean law
  • Analyzing aggregate trends to develop better features

We analyze usage patterns in aggregate form to understand which features work well and which need improvement. But this is done with anonymized data so individual users can't be identified.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Here's the short version: we don't sell your data. Period. We're not an advertising company, and your financial information isn't a product.

When We Might Share Information

  • With service providers who help us run the platform (like hosting services), but they're bound by strict confidentiality agreements
  • If legally required by South Korean authorities with proper documentation
  • To protect against fraud or security threats to our users
  • If our business structure changes through merger or acquisition (you'd be notified)

Our service providers include cloud hosting infrastructure and email delivery services. They can only access data necessary for their specific function and are prohibited from using it for anything else.

We've carefully vetted every third party we work with to confirm they meet South Korean data protection standards and have proper security measures in place.

How We Protect Your Data

Security isn't just a checkbox for us. Given that you're trusting us with financial information, we take multiple layers of precaution to keep everything locked down.

Security Measure What It Does
256-bit SSL Encryption Encrypts all data transmitted between your device and our servers
Database Encryption Your stored financial data is encrypted at rest in our database
Access Controls Limited employee access with strict authentication requirements
Regular Security Audits Third-party penetration testing conducted quarterly
Automated Backups Daily encrypted backups stored in geographically separate locations

Our servers are located in certified data centers within South Korea that comply with ISO 27001 standards. We conduct regular vulnerability assessments and keep all software updated with the latest security patches.

But security is a shared responsibility. Use a strong, unique password for your account and enable two-factor authentication. Don't access your account on public computers or unsecured WiFi networks.

Your Rights and Controls

Under South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, you have specific rights regarding your data. We've built tools directly into the platform so you can exercise these rights without jumping through hoops.

What You Can Do

  • Access all personal data we hold about you through your account dashboard
  • Download your complete financial data in CSV or JSON format anytime
  • Correct or update any information that's inaccurate
  • Delete specific budget entries or entire categories you no longer need
  • Close your account entirely and request full data deletion
  • Opt out of non-essential emails while keeping account notifications
  • Request a detailed report of how your data has been processed

Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days. We keep some basic information for legal compliance (like transaction logs) for up to 5 years as required by South Korean financial regulations, but all personal financial data is permanently removed.

You can export your data at any time without needing to close your account. This portability right means you're never locked into our platform and can move your financial information elsewhere if you choose.

Data Retention and Deletion

We don't keep your data forever just because we can. Different types of information have different retention periods based on practical needs and legal requirements.

Retention Periods

  • Active account data: Retained as long as your account remains open
  • Deleted budget entries: Removed immediately from production systems
  • Closed accounts: Personal data deleted within 30 days of closure request
  • Payment records: Kept for 5 years per South Korean tax law requirements
  • Security logs: Retained for 6 months then automatically purged
  • Backup archives: Cycled monthly with old backups permanently deleted

When we say deleted, we mean actually deleted using secure erasure methods. Not just marked as inactive or moved to an archive. The data is overwritten and unrecoverable.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies, but let's be honest about what that actually means. They're small text files that help the platform remember you between sessions and function properly.

Types of Cookies We Use

  • Essential cookies that keep you logged in and maintain session security
  • Preference cookies that remember your dashboard layout and settings
  • Analytics cookies that show us which features get used most often

We don't use advertising cookies or share cookie data with ad networks. You can disable non-essential cookies in your account settings, though this may affect some convenience features like remembered preferences.

Most browsers let you block cookies entirely, but this will likely prevent you from logging into the platform since session cookies are essential for basic functionality.

Children's Privacy

PulseCast is designed for adults managing personal or business finances. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 14 years of age, which is the age of digital consent in South Korea.

If we discover that someone under 14 has created an account, we'll delete it and all associated data immediately. Parents who believe their child may have provided information to us should contact us right away.

Changes to This Policy

Privacy regulations evolve, and occasionally we need to update this policy to reflect new practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, you'll receive an email notification at least 30 days before they take effect.

Minor updates like clarifying existing language or fixing typos won't trigger notifications, but the "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision.

Continued use of the platform after policy changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree with changes, you can close your account before the effective date.

International Data Transfers

All your data is stored on servers physically located in South Korea and remains within the country's jurisdiction. We don't transfer personal information to international servers or third parties outside South Korea.

This keeps everything under South Korean data protection laws, which are among the strictest in the world. If our infrastructure ever changes to include international components, we'll update this policy and notify all users in advance.
